Artistic and research residency during the second semester of 2026
The first edition of the Totó La Momposina Scholarship pays tribute to the teacher and champion of musical memory and the communities of the Black, Indigenous, amphibious, and rural Caribbean . This initiative is a collaboration between Casa Kitambo and Casa Taller El Boga.
The grant supports artistic creation and/or research on Afro-diasporic trades, arts and thought in the Momposina Depression and the Colombian Caribbean .
We welcome proposals in the following areas:
Music, dance, performing arts, writing, plastic arts, visual arts, gastronomy, film and research.
Participant Profile
The call is exclusively for people of African descent who meet the following requirements:
Having been born in Colombia.
Currently residing in Colombian territory.
Be of age.
What does the scholarship include?
The selected resident will receive the following support for the development of their proposal during the second half of 2026:
Accompaniment: support in the conception of the artistic and research project.
Networks and connections: link with teachers, knowledgeable people and cultural agents of the region (according to the specific interests of the project).
Dissemination: promotion of their activities on the social networks of the organizing institutions.
Maintenance and logistics: lodging in a room with private bathroom, transportation allowance of 400,000 Colombian pesos and a job placement incentive of 600,000 Colombian pesos
Facilities: Free use of the spaces of Casa Taller El Boga (exhibition hall, study room, library, kitchen, swimming pool, laundry and Wi-Fi connection).
Resident commitments
The selected resident commits to:
Research and Creation: Develop an artistic research and/or creative project related to Afro-diasporic arts, traditional practices, crafts, and/or thought in the Mompox Depression region and the Colombian Caribbean.
Knowledge Exchange: Facilitate one (1) workshop or educational exchange activity in Mompox.
Production and Dissemination: Present a work-in-progress, creative outcome, or public sharing of the residency experience at Casa Kitambo and Casa Taller El Boga. A completed final work is not required; the emphasis is on sharing the artistic and research process.
Public Presentation: Offer a public presentation of their research and/or creative process in Mompox.

Record a video of no more than 2 minutes introducing yourself, describing your project, and explaining why you would like to develop it in Mompox, Colombia. Upload the video link in the application form.

Submit a research and/or creative project proposal to be developed during the residency.

Share your portfolio or examples of previous work.

Each year we award 2 grants aimed exclusively at Colombian artists, researchers and cultural managers who wish to develop a project in dialogue with the territory and community of Mompox.

Grants include:
1 month accommodation in a private room within the Casa Taller El Boga.
Access to all workspaces: workshops, library, common areas and experimentation zones. Cultural support from the host resident, who guides, monitors and coordinates the resident's work with representatives of the local culture.

Artist Fellow 2026-1
We are thrilled to announce our first semester 2026 scholarship recipient!
We had the challenge of evaluating multiple proposals for wonderful projects with great potential for Mompós and its community; and after a long and arduous process, we considered that the artist from MonterÃa, Alexandra Haddad @haddadalex, should be the winner of this scholarship.
Alexandra is a visual artist and graduate of ECAL (Lausanne, Switzerland). She has participated in group exhibitions in Colombia and Switzerland and has experience in managing and curating exhibition projects in the Colombian Caribbean and Geneva.
